The Regional Clean Sea Organization (RECSO) is the environmental arm of the regions oil, gas and tanker companies. RECSO was founded in 1972 and has since expanded and become a regional player in the environment. Our main activities are to protect the Gulf environment from any potential pollution, as an oil industry co-operative organization functioning on the concept of "mutual aid".

Energy and environment are essential to sustainable development and with the increased global demand for oil and gas there has been increased exploration and production, not forgetting the massive regional development and growth including urban development, travel, tourism, industrialization, trade and commerce all of this has consequently led to increased maritime traffic within our waters which has significantly increased the risks to the safety of our waters. Our member companies through RECSO are actively seeking to find preventative measures that will help protect our waters whilst meeting regional growth and global energy demand. This we think is especially important since the GCC countries depend on the Gulf waters for their drinking supply and we think it has now become a matter of survival.

RECSO is therefore involved in many activities that help increase awareness of the situation and help to seek solutions for the many problems that our region faces. One of these activities is a conference which we host every 2 years called 'Offshore Arabia'. This conference focuses on bringing regional and  international experts and dignitaries to discuss the latest technologies, innovations made in the field of the environment and solutions available to tackle them. The conference's theme, 'Global Partners for Energy and Environment', reflects RECSO's objective.
